Principal's Message
Welcome to Serrano Intermediate School—Home of the Seahawks.
Welcome to the 2025–26 school year at Serrano Intermediate School! I am thrilled to welcome all of our new and returning Seahawks to what promises to be another exciting, engaging, and meaningful year of learning and connection.
Our new theme for the year, “Together We Thrive,” reflects the spirit of collaboration, resilience, and community that makes Serrano such a special place. We believe that when students, families, and staff work together, we create an environment where everyone grows—academically, socially, and emotionally.
This past year, we made tremendous strides in our commitment to student success and a positive school culture:
- Serrano was recognized as a CA and National "School to Watch", a proud accomplishment that highlights our academic excellence, student support systems, and strong organizational practices.
- Our students brought home SVUSD Intramural Championships in Girls Flag Football, Girls Volleyball, and earned the title of Back-to-Back District Chess Champions, showing incredible spirit, leadership, and teamwork.
- Through our “Serrano Goes Gold” campaign in partnership with the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF), our community came together in a powerful way. Over the past two years, Serrano has raised over $5,000 to support pediatric cancer research, showing that when we stand together, we make a real impact beyond our campus.
- We were honored to host students and staff from Australia as part of their NASA Space Camp tour, providing a memorable international exchange of ideas, science, and culture. We are thrilled to welcome them back to Serrano again this year as part of their continued partnership with our school.
- We honored our 8th-grade eCYBERMISSION team, who were named 8th Grade State Winners and Western Regional Finalists in the prestigious eCYBERMISSION competition, a national STEM challenge sponsored by the U.S. Army Educational Outreach Program. There were over 1,700 participating teams nationwide.
- Our award-winning Instrumental Music program continues to impress, earning multiple top honors at regional competitions and even performing on a national stage in Florida.
- Our yearbook staff produced one of the top yearbooks in the country, capturing the heart and energy of our school with creativity and excellence.
- Sarah Foster, one of our talented student artists, earned 3rd place in the Festival of the Arts Junior Art Celebration! Her creativity and hard work were recognized among many outstanding young artists across the region.
- We expanded our inclusive programs, including Unified PE, Unified Art, and our student-led clubs that bring together students from diverse backgrounds and learning needs.
- Construction is underway for our new two-story academic building, which will provide twelve additional, modernized learning spaces to support our growing programs. We’re on track for completion by January 2026!
This year, we will continue to build on that momentum with a focus on academic growth, school pride, and strong relationships. Whether it’s through classroom experiences, clubs, leadership, or special events, every student will have the opportunity to thrive.
As always, I am grateful for our dedicated staff, the energy and resilience of our students, and the unwavering support of our families. I invite each of you to get involved, stay connected, and help us continue making Serrano a place where students feel supported, inspired, and proud.
Thank you for being a vital part of our Serrano family.
SOAR like a Seahawk!
