September is “Attendance Awareness Month” and in an ongoing effort to improve student attendance district wide, the Saddleback Valley Unified School District is continuing the attendance awareness campaign this school year.
Benefits of Good Attendance
Good attendance helps children do well in school and eventually in the workplace. If children don’t attend school regularly, they miss out on fundamental reading and math skills and the chance to build a habit of good attendance that will carry them into college and careers. There is no more important variable than the time spent on task in the classroom under the guidance of a professional educator.
Reducing Chronic Absence
Reducing chronic absence can help close achievement gaps and increases the likelihood for future academic success and positive contributions to society. Chronic absence is a problem we can solve when the whole community, along with parents and schools, get involved in improving attendance.
Perfect Attendance
We will be looking for students with perfect attendance during the month of September who may earn the chance to win prizes and other rewards. Please join us in this effort by helping kick off the school year with the attendance awareness campaign for our students.
