Model United Nations (MUN)

Are you interested in learning about world events, improving your public speaking skills and having fun with your friends?

Model UN club at La Paz might be just for you. Members of LHHS MUN will be leading meetings approximately every other Monday from 1:15-2:15. Night debates will also be offered at Laguna Hills High school. Club members will have the opportunity to participate in a real MUN conference at LHHS in February.

What is MUN? Following the Model United Nations guidelines, students step into the shoes of ambassadors from UN member states and discuss current issues on the organization’s vast agenda. At each conference, students represent a UN member nation and discuss topics in committee such as child labor and land mines. Preparation for the conference requires students to research and absorb facts about the history, geography, culture, economy and political make-up of their country in order to fairly and accurately represent that country’s interest and alignment in the international community.

If interested please ask a teacher for an application. Turn in completed applications by September 25th to the front office.
