Mustang Families,

We have such an exciting week ahead at Trabuco! On Tuesday during Flex, I’m looking forward to meeting with the students who signed up to be part of our Student Think Tank—thank you for stepping up to share your voices and ideas that make our campus stronger.

That same afternoon, come cheer on our Girls Tennis team vs. Mission Viejo and Girls Golf vs. San Juan Hills at 3pm, and stick around for Boys Water Polo vs. San Juan Hills at 5pm. Wednesday night, our Flag Football team takes on Aliso Niguel at 6:15pm, and Thursday Boys Water Polo faces Beckman at 5pm. We’ll wrap up the week with one of our most special traditions—Football Senior Night on Friday at 7pm. Be sure to grab your tickets and join us as we celebrate our seniors!

Seniors, don’t forget to order your cap and gown by Tuesday.

And finally, congratulations to our National Merit Commended Scholars highlighted in this week’s newsletter—we are so proud of your accomplishments!

Trabuco Hills High School is proud to celebrate its 40th anniversary during the 2025 school year. Since opening in 1985, the school has served as a cornerstone of the community, fostering academic excellence, school spirit, and lasting traditions.

Over the past four decades, Trabuco Hills has grown in both size and strength, developing a reputation for outstanding student achievement, exceptional programs, and a dedicated staff committed to student success. Thousands of graduates have walked its halls each contributing to the school’s enduring legacy.

THHS Highlights

National Merit Scholarship Corporation News

For over 70 years the National Merit Scholarship Corporation has recognized the intellectual talents of students across the nation. High school students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program each year by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), and some 50,000 students qualify for program recognition. Approximately 8,500 receive awards worth about $39 million.

Commended Students in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program

We are also excited to announce that the following students from THHS have been named as Commended Students in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, will be presented by the principal to these talented seniors.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2026 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2026 competition by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC, “These students represent a valuable national resource. Recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”

Trabuco Hills High School’s Advanced Placement Exam Registration

2025-2026 AP Exam Registration Timeline:

Oct. 1, 2025 @ 8:00 am: Date and Time to begin registration.

Nov. 7, 2025 @ 11:59 pm:  REFUND POLICY: Date by which a student can receive a FULL refund (Classes that begin before mid-November)

Nov. 8, 2025 @ 12:00 amLATE REGISTRATION FEE:  Begin $45 per exam late registration fee for AP classes that begin before Nov. 15, 2025.  (full year and/or first semester).

Mar. 6, 2026 @ 11:00 pm: Date and time to end registration.

Mar. 9, 2026 @ 11:00 pm: Final payment deadline.  (Exams not paid in full will be cancelled)

May 1, 2026REFUND POLICY: Date by which a student can receive a partial refund (classes that  begin before mid-November).  The Cancellation Fee (amount to withhold for partial refunds = $45

THHS Thundering Mustangs Marching Unit 

FRIDAY 10/03/25 @ THHS STADIUM, 7:00PM

The Varsity Football: Trabuco Hills High School vs. El Modena High School will be held on Friday, October 03, 2025 @ THHS Stadium at 7:00pm. This is a special game as the 8th Graders from the local intermediate school will be joining us for Pep Tunes in the stands. Additionally, the 2025 Trabuco Hills High School Thundering Mustangs Marching Unit will perform the Opener & Ballad of the Fall 2025 Show "Once Upon A Time" at halftime.

THHS Sports Highlights

Trabuco Hills Boys Cross Country 

Over the weekend, the boys cross country team raced at the Grit & Grind Invitational at Cal State San Marcos. The varsity team were victorious in the elite division, defeating runner-up Central Catholic of OR by 19 points. The team was led by Senior Sebastian Bello who finished 2nd overall in 14:39 for 3-miles. Senior Aedan Clark and Sophomore Dresden Taylor also finished in the top 10.

The Frosh-Soph team also won their race with a near perfect score, taking 7 of the top 11 places. Sophomores Jaxson Hughes and Luis Cardenas-Garcia finished 2nd and 3rd overall to lead the team to victory.

For some of the OGs, there wasn’t even a field on campus during your time here, which made it even more special to welcome you back to our newly upgraded stadium.
