CAASPP

Dear Mustang Students and Parents,

This week is state testing!

It is important for all students to give their best efforts on these tests for the following reasons:

  • All students who make progress or perform Proficient or Advanced on the exams, will participate in a special time of celebration their senior year.
  • The release of CAASPP information will not affect a student's application for college admissions. Students can choose to have their CAASPP scores be used for California Community Colleges (CCC) and California State Universities (CSU) to determine appropriate placement in college-level courses. Students will have the opportunity to select "release" to provide this information to these institutions in the last question on each test.
  • If your child is a candidate for the State Seal of Biliteracy, they must also pass the California Assessment of English Performance and Progress (CAASPP) or any successor test, administered in grade eleven, at or above the "standard met" achievement level.
  • CAASPP scores are calculated into our overall school score and ranking which colleges consider when selecting applicants. Scores can be a determining factor of maintaining our high-achieving reputation as well as help determine disbursement of funds depending on strengths and needs.

From Monday, March 24 until Friday, April 4, all Trabuco Hills High School Juniors will be taking the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) and the California Science Test (CAST) in their English, Math, and Science classes. The  test will be administered inside the bell schedule during class time.

All other students will be following the bell schedule below and attending all classes as they normally would.

Link to Testing Bell Schedule

All Juniors will need to bring their school-assigned, fully charged Chromebook and personal wired headphones for testing each day. Wireless headphones will not be permitted. Please be sure students are on time for class each day, are well-rested, and have eaten breakfast.

Please be sure to have your student check to ensure their Chromebook is up-to-date (Instructions here).

Thank you for your continued support in ensuring our students do their very best.

THHS Highlights

On behalf of the Wharton Global Youth Program, I would like to recognize and congratulate your remarkable students from team Stampede Investments, who advanced to the Semifinal Round of the 2024-2025 Wharton Global High School Investment Competition.

The Wharton Global High School Investment Competition is a 12-week challenge in which students compete in teams led by an advisor to win the chance to manage the wealth of a potential client. Presented with a case study featuring this client, teams must create a compelling and creative long-term strategy that addresses the client’s investment goals. Along the way, they learn investing concepts with the help of Wharton Global Youth Program materials, conduct in-depth analysis, and buy and sell stocks for their portfolios using an online simulator designed for trading and portfolio-management education.

Following the competition through to the end is a big commitment. The students from Stampede Investments were among the top 50 global teams selected from more than 1,800 final competition reports. Everyone at Trabuco Hills should be very proud of their accomplishments.

Members of Stampede Investments are: Kianna Bao, Korina Bao, Harini Karthikeyan, Ryu Cole Siaden and Rohail Ghulamali

I would also like to recognize Ryan Mock for serving as the team’s advisor. Ryan played an essential role in their students’ success.

Again, congratulations to Stampede Investments for advancing to the Semifinals. We are grateful to have been a part of their learning journey.

The THHS Nightingales and Chamber Choir will be participating in the California Music Educators Association (CMEA) State Choral Festival held in Meng Hall at California State University, Fullerton. This wonderful opportunity was made possible through several years of required class I superior ratings in their regional festivals and through a blind audition process of several years of past performance recordings. Their success in both regional and national festivals has earned them recognition by being the only school to bring two ensembles, and to be the only school selected to perform in Orange County. Trabuco Hills is proud to represent the state of California and will be two of thirteen ensembles presenting their literature amongst some of the top schools in the state. If any of the students below are in your classes, please give them your congratulations!
