Dear Mission Viejo High School Parents and Students,
I hope you are doing well and excited to enter our final quarter before summer. I love the quote, “Spring is in the air,” and on a high school campus that means everyone is in perpetual motion. We recently finished two days of state testing for the California Science Test (CAST), which is part of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) that begins today.
It is important that our students perform their best on these state tests. Their scores will be included on transcripts indicating if they are “college ready” and can serve as placement exams for future college-level courses. Further, overall student performance on testing is another way that MVHS is measured as a school with other schools throughout the state. In addition, many of our students are preparing to take Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams. Please encourage your student to get plenty of sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and be on time for all testing. In addition, I ask that you remind your student about the importance of school attendance, which as you know, is a critical component of student success in school. I understand appointments happen (i.e. doctor, dentist, etc.) but I hope we can try to make these appointments outside the testing window. Lastly, I am happy to share with all of you that I received our WASC accreditation results; a full six-year accreditation! I am so proud of our students, teachers, and staff.
We are excited to see our Diablo students finish this school year strong and achieving their very best.
Mrs. Tricia Osborne
