Dear Mission Viejo High School Parents and Students,
We are happy to welcome you back to the 2019-20 school year. We are excited to share that MVHS was ranked nationally by the Washington Post as one of the top high schools in the nation. Only 12% of all U.S. schools made the list and we are proud that we are named one of “America’s Most Challenging High Schools.” Not only that, but MVHS moved up 248 spots from last year to #1105 in the nation. Our award-winning programs, community partnerships, high expectations for all, and strong relationships are some of the reasons that Mission Viejo High School stands out among the best. As Diablos, we strive for excellence each day and follow our Student Learner Outcomes.
As a friendly reminder in our pursuit of excellence, the purpose of the MVHS Tutorial program is to provide students with intervention opportunities designed to increase academic achievement. This 26-minute time period is an opportunity for students to obtain extra help from their teacher, make-up tests/quizzes, labs, assignments, read, and/or study (within the school day.) Please remind your student to utilize tutorial time effectively. We recently started lunch tutoring three days per week in the subjects of Math and Science. National Honor Society students will be tutoring after school (3:00-4:00 pm) one day per week in the library.
It is important that you know I welcome open communication, value your partnership, and will do all I can to ensure a positive high school experience for your student. In closing, I encourage you to join our wonderful Parent-Teacher-Student-Organization (PTSO). We meet the first Tuesday of every month. A special thank you to our PTSO, Boosters, and parent volunteers for your support, donations, and volunteer work to our many programs.
I look forward to an outstanding year. Go Diablos!
Mrs. Tricia Osborne
