Each spring, California students participate in statewide assessments to measure their academic progress and ensure our schools are effectively preparing them for college and future careers. The CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) is administered to students in grades 3–8 and 11 to evaluate their proficiency in core subjects such as English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. The ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessments for California) is an annual assessment given to students whose primary language is not English to measure their ongoing growth in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Together, these computer-based tests provide critical, personalized data that helps both families and teachers identify where students are excelling and where they may need extra support.
