SVUSD Graduation Requirements

Students must complete the following requirements:

Earn a minimum of 220 credits of coursework: 165 required credits & 55 elective credits

SUBJECT	REQUIREMENT
English	40 credits
Math	30 credits
Science	30 credits
Social Studies	30 credits
Health	5 credits
Physical Education	20 credits
Visual or Performing Arts, World Languages or Career Technical Education	10 credits
Electives	55 credits

Note: Students earn 5 credits per class with a passing grade of A, B, C or D per semester.

A grade of "F" must be repeated in order to graduate and earn a diploma.

Submit eight (8) hours of community service or equivalent project during grades 9 - 12. The completed Community Service forms must be turned into your Student Services Technician by the end of the first semester of the student's 12th grade year. Demonstrate grade level writing proficiency on a district benchmark activity (District Portfolio).

Community Service Requirement

Students must submit eight (8) hours of verified community service or equivalent project by the end of the first semester of the student's 12th Grade year.

SVUSD requires all students to complete 8 hours of community service to a non-profit organization in order to graduate. Students have 3 1/2 years to complete their service hours; the form is due to the guidance technicians by the last day of the first semester of their senior year.
