Required Student Appointments through FlexTime

It is an ETHS requirement that ALL students must be in one of their own teachers’ classrooms during Tutorial. 

Who?	All Students.
What?	All students will be required to make an appointment in one of their own teachers’ classrooms for each Tutorial using the FlexTime app.
When?	Every Monday during 3rd period, following morning announcements.
How?	Students will be prompted to log in to FlexTime and make an appointment for Tutorial for each day of the following week (Tuesday-Friday). Students scan into Tutorial using their ID card or by typing their ID number into the software as they enter. If a student scans into Tutorial in one room but they have an appointment in another room, the software will flag that student in red so the teacher will know and send them to the room where they have an appointment.
Why?	Safety is the top priority, and FlexTime allows us to locate and account for all students in the case of an emergency.   So that students take ownership of their own academic intervention. To help improve and enhance Tutorial as a ‘targeted” intervention so that students who need help get into the classes they need help in.   To create a systematic way of ensuring students can get into a class. FlexTime allows students to reserve a spot so they can ensure they have a reserved seat in the tutorial room they are going to.   To help with the everyday occurrence of students wandering around and reporting they went to several teachers’ classes but they were full. To help monitor and track where students are going during Tutorial to inform  decisions on Interventions/504s/SSTs/IEPs.

Tutorial Policy and Procedures

2024-25

1.  Tutorial will be held whenever we are on a Regular Bell Schedule.

2.  All students should be in one of their own teachers’ classrooms during Tutorial. Students not in a classroom will be escorted to the Discipline Office and assigned a consequence. Progressive discipline will apply to repeat offenders.

3.  Students are to use time productively. Some examples include the following:

• a. Make-up work / assessments
• b. Homework completion                   
• c. Read silently
• d. Clarify content or directions on assignments
• e. Participate in teacher-assigned study groups
• f. Request assistance from a teacher
• g. Work on teacher-assigned group or class projects or assignments
• h. Conduct research

4.  Appointments are not to exceed the number of student desks. Students need to be sitting in seats, not on the floor.

5. Passes out of class:

• a. No passes are allowed during Tutorial for students to use the vending machine (which are powered off during Tutorial), go to their locker, or conduct school business such as visiting Guidance or Attendance.
• b. Students may be allowed out of class with a pass, only to use the restroom, and only one-at-a-time. Students out of class without a pass or in pairs/groups will be sent back to class.

6. Students who do not comply with schoolwide or teacher Tutorial expectations will be referred to the Discipline Office and will receive consequences.

Please Note:

• ALL students are required to set up Tutorial appointments in FlexTime.  
• Students may change Tutorial appointments as needed pending available space.

How do you make an appointment? 

Follow these step by step instructions: 

1. Go to www.teachmore.org/eltoro/students.
2. Click on the “log in through google” button. You should now be logged in. 
3. On the left side of the screen you will see a blue button that says “Appointments.”  Click on that button.
4. On the calendar, click on next weeks dates. 
5. Enter all required information to set up your appointment. 
   • Date:  Select the date that you wish to make a Tutorial appointment.
   • Select an Event:  Pick "Tutorial".
   • Select a Teacher:  Select one of your teachers.
   • Select a Comment:  Click the reason that best fits your need.  (OPTIONAL).

Remember to only set up an appointment with one of your own teachers.  ALL students are required to have an appointment for Tutorial.  Any student that is out of Tutorial without a pass will receive progressive steps of discipline.
