Principal's Message

Welcome to Trabuco Mesa Elementary ~ Home of the Bulldogs!

We have a wonderful school community of great students, awesome staff, and supportive families who work together to reach a higher plateau of learning. Our staff is committed to providing a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for ALL students. Students strive to be safe, respectful, and responsible. Trabuco Mesa is a GATE magnet school, with GATE classrooms in third through sixth grade.  We encourage our students to have a growth mindset, become life-long learners, and learn scholarly habits to help them be successful in their educational journey.  Our staff embraces the SVUSD Mission – SV Innovates:  Focusing on intentional lesson design, engaging strategies, and innovative practices that create successful students.  Trabuco Mesa's strong PTA supports and funds STEAM at our school:  Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math programs. Students participate in collaboration, creativity and coding in  our Innovation Lab and hands-on science lessons in our Science Lab! We encourage our parents to become involved with our School Site Council, PTA, and to volunteer either in our outside of the classroom.  We believe it takes a team of parents, teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure the academic success of your child. Make sure to let your teacher or the office know if you are interested in volunteering on campus. Trabuco Mesa is a great place to be!

August 2, 2021

Dear Parents,

I am pleased to welcome all new and returning Trabuco Mesa families to the 2021-2022 school year. I am proud to be part of this wonderful Bulldog community of dedicated staff, parents, and students. Trabuco Mesa is a California Distinguished School known for its outstanding teaching staff and high expectations for student achievement.  We are proud of our accomplishments and will continue to pursue academic excellence for all students this coming year.  Our goal is to provide a strong foundation for learning and a safe school environment that will help all of our students be successful in school and life.

SVUSD is required to follow the guidelines and recommendations issued by CAL/OSHA, CDPH, and OCHCA. These guidelines include the requirement for all students and adults to wear masks while inside on a K-12 school campus. While outside, students are not required to wear masks. The CDPH stated that it will continue to assess conditions and will determine no later than November 1, 2021 whether to update or eliminate mask requirements or recommendations in schools.

This year, we will continue to utilize a variety of COVID-19 mitigation measures, including:

  • Air purifiers in every classroom and regular HVAC maintenance and inspections

  • Nightly sanitation and disinfecting

  • Outdoor hand washing stations, classroom hand washing and hand sanitizing stations throughout campus

  • Use of outdoor and flexible learning spaces to provide students opportunities to remove masks

  • Contact tracing and reporting

As we busily work to get students registered and assign teachers for the upcoming school year, we need your help. Please log into the Parent Portal as soon as you can to confirm your child’s information. Our district uses this information for staffing, so please do so asap! Once you log in to the Parent Portal, there will be a pop-up window in the bottom right corner that will direct you to the “data confirmation” page. Here you must confirm or edit the data. This process is required for every student, every year and should only take you a few minutes.

We will be posting class placements in the Parent Portal on Friday, August 13th, and you must complete the data confirmation before that date:

Please review the Parent Handbook which contains information about School Standards of Behavior and our Dress Code. Additionally, we have included attendance information and important safety reminders regarding dropping off and picking up your child from school. We request that you review this information with your child prior to the first day of school.

Thank you in advance for your support. I look forward to a great year, working with all of you, and serving our wonderful community! If at any time you have questions, concerns, or you need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me at 949-858-3338.
