Dear Santiago Families,

It is with great excitement and deep appreciation that I introduce myself as the new principal of Santiago STEAM Magnet Elementary School. I am honored to join this incredible school community, known for its creativity, innovation, and commitment to meaningful learning. As we gear up for the 2025–2026 school year, I want to extend a warm welcome to both our returning families and those who are new to Santiago.

Over the coming months, I look forward to getting to know each of you—students, families, and staff—as we continue Santiago’s tradition of excellence together. I truly believe that schools thrive when we work in partnership, and I’m committed to cultivating a learning environment where every student is inspired to think critically, collaborate, and grow.

What Makes Santiago Special

Santiago is not just a school—it’s a dynamic learning environment where students are challenged to explore, create, and solve real-world problems through our distinctive STEAM focus and Project Based Learning (PBL) approach. Students at Santiago experience learning in deeply engaging ways:

• In Science, they act as curious investigators.

• In Technology, they code, build, and design with purpose.

• Through Engineering, they learn by doing and designing.

• The Arts give them a voice for expression and storytelling.

• In Math, they discover the “why” behind the numbers and apply it in powerful ways.

Our PBL model places students at the center of authentic, interdisciplinary learning. Guided by human-centered design thinking, they explore the world with empathy, think across disciplines, and develop creative solutions that matter.

Family Connections and Community Spirit

I firmly believe that strong schools are built on strong relationships. Your involvement makes a difference—whether by attending events, volunteering, or staying connected. Some ways to get engaged this year include:

• Joining us at Back-to-School Night to hear directly from teachers and explore upcoming projects

• Participating in the PTA or volunteering in our Innovation Lab

• Attending school-wide events that bring learning and joy to life

This year promises to be full of discovery, collaboration, and connection. I can’t wait to see the incredible things our students will accomplish. Please don’t hesitate to stop by, say hello, or reach out with any questions—we’re in this together, and I’m so glad to be on this journey with you.
