A valid excuse is defined as an illness, quarantine, medical or dental appointment, funeral attendance, court or Religious observance.

Any student leaving school 30 minutes early without a valid excuse (illness, medical appointment) must be marked “unexcused.”  Dismissals from the Health Office will be excused.

Any student arriving more than 30 minutes late without a valid excuse is considered “Truant Tardy.”

Parents will receive a tardy letter when a student reaches 5, 10, 15, and 20 tardies.

Parents will receive an Unexcused/Truancy letter when a student reaches 3, 6, and 10 unexcused absences or truants: this includes unexcused absences, unexcused early dismissals, or truant tardies.

Parents will receive a 14-day absence letter when a child reaches 14 absences, whether excused or unexcused. After 14 days, a doctor’s note is required to excuse any further absences.

All students must check-in at the office when arriving after the morning bell rights to obtain a tardy slip. If your child is late due to a doctor’s appointment, or leaves early due to a doctor’s appointment, or is under medical care, please be sure to get a note from the doctor’s (or dentist’s) office.  Doctors’ notes will clear the absence and not count toward the 14-Day Absence Letter.

Students who will be out for five or more consecutive days should contact the office at least two weeks in advance for further information regarding these contracts.  Contracts will not be issued in the first or last months of school.

The office will contact families in incidences where quarantine is necessary.

When your student is out with an illness, you may call the office on the third day of the absence.  The requested homework will be ready for parent pick up after 2:45 on the day it was requested. Prior to the third day of absence, please email the teacher for homework requests.  Please do not make requests to the office prior to the third day of the student’s absence.

For security purposes, we ask that you not deliver items to your student’s classroom.  Please do not bring forgotten items unless requested by the teacher. Students who have forgotten their lunch will be provided a free school lunch for the 24-25 school year.  While we will do our best to deliver messages in a timely manner, please understand that student recesses and lunch breaks often prevent us from reaching the teacher right away.
