Melinda Heights Elementary School

Principal's Message

Hello Melinda Heights Families,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! I am looking forward to an extraordinary year of learning, making friends, and having fun together here at Melinda Heights Elementary School!  It is truly a special place.  Whether you are a new Mountain Lion or returning, we are so glad you are part of our community.

Melinda Heights is a school where everybody belongs. Every child is valued, welcomed, and celebrated for who they are. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and caring environment where all students feel a sense of belonging and connection. Our diversity is our strength, and we work together each day to build a community where every student knows they are seen, heard, and supported. When children feel they belong, they thrive—and that is at the heart of everything we do.

Our Melinda Heights faculty and staff focus on equitable, intentional, and engaging practices that provide opportunities for each and every student to be successful - academically, social-emotionally, and behaviorally. We strive to meet students where they are at each day and support them through first best instruction, intervention, and enrichment. We are fortunate to have a school counselor, intervention teachers, Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) teachers, Speech and Language teachers, an Occupational Therapist, and a GATE cluster teacher at grade levels 3-6. Our staff is incredible and they love their students.

Our Mountain Lions ROAR! We are Responsible, Own our choices, and Act with integrity and Respect. Positive student behavior is recognized by all staff members through verbal praise, ROAR tickets, visits to the ROAR Store to “buy” incentives and experiences, announcement of student names at monthly Power of the Paw student-run assemblies, and trimester ROAR button awards. We love to catch students exhibiting our core characteristics and tell them how much we appreciate the choices they make that help our school continue to be such a great place to grow and learn.

I have much more to share with you, so be sure to stay in-the-know this year by reading my weekly ROAR Report each Sunday posted on ParentSquare and by joining our fabulous MHES PTA!

Warmly,

Ms. Wendie Hauschild
