Music

Students at Linda Vista experience music from Kindergarten through 6th grade. Music students from Kindergarten through 3rd grade explore singing, movement and classroom instruments. Students learn about composers, musical styles, and instruments through listening, movement and creating. In 3rd grade, students collaborate to explore composition and imagination in music. Fourth grade students sing and play recorders in a group setting to learn about being in an ensemble, working together and learning the disciplines of a good musician. In 5th and 6th grade, students have the opportunity to choose between Performing Arts or Instrumental classes. For 5th grade, Mr. Moreau provides a strings class for students interested in learning violin or cello. For 6th grade, band is available for students interested in playing instruments such as trumpet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone or flute. Mr. Moreau provides a highly involved program that helps students progress and develop in music. Students enrolled in Performing Arts for 5th and 6th grade are involved in a variety of musical styles from vocal to classroom ensemble as they continue to develop their ability to read and play more challenging selections of music with Miss Thompson.
