Why La Tierra Early Childhood Center?

Since 1999, the La Tierra Early Childhood Center (La Tierra ECC) has been proudly serving preschool aged children with special needs who meet special education eligibility criteria under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).  At La Tierra ECC, in collaboration with members of the school community, we strive to provide purposeful, developmentally appropriate, quality education within a nurturing environment.  We believe that school should be a safe, yet fun place where trained, caring professionals provide instruction that is meaningful, practical, and leads students to reach their fullest potential while embracing and celebrating diversity!

Students at La Tierra ECC often begin their academic careers following the completion of thorough psycho-educational assessment.  An individualized educational plan is created for each student, progress is measured with data, and goals are continually assessed and revised based on students’ progress.  Learning occurs through a play-based approach where goals and learning objectives are embedded into activities throughout the day, giving students many opportunities to learn and practice skills.  Each day is packed with innovative, carefully designed activities structured to challenge and engage students as they learn.  It’s an incredible experience to see children who come to La Tierra ECC as young as three years of age thrive, grow, and become ready to transition to kindergarten!
