My name is Heather Ramsey, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of La Madera Elementary School in Lake Forest, CA, home of the Koalas. I come from a family of educators who are committed to learning, and the importance of always learning new things. Knowledge is something that drives me to always strive to learn more, and to share my heart and passion for education with our students and staff.
I am a graduate of the University of California Irvine, and the University of La Verne. I am currently a first year law student at the Irvine University College of Law working on my Juris Doctorate. Education, and being a student, inspires me as a leader.
Prior to coming to Saddleback Valley Unified School District, I taught Grades 1, 2,3,5,& 6 as well as high school Spanish 2, and I also served as a Guidance Counselor in the Ojai Unified District. I served as the Assistant Principal of Melinda Heights, in SVUSD and now I love my role as the Principal of La Madera.
La Madera is a beautiful school nestled in the eucalyptus groves of Lake Forest, CA. Whenever anyone visits La Madera, they always comment on the great energy on our campus, the friendly staff, and respectful students. In addition to being a place where people feel welcome, La Madera is also known for its academic excellence. La Madera is one of five GATE Magnet Schools in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District. All students and teachers are encouraged to be innovators, and to take risks and grow together as a community of learners!
This year La Madera is proud to be celebrating our 40th Birthday/Anniversary and 40 years of Excellence in Education. La Madera is truly a neighborhood school; many parents of current Koalas attended La Madera themselves. At La Madera our focus is Every Koala, Every Day!
