I have always loved coming to school and I still do! I love beginning each day seeing the eager smiling faces on teachers, staff and students as they take on a new day at PAWSitively the best school around!
My name is Mrs. Deborah Shaver. I feel very privileged to be leading Foothill Ranch's staff and community as we work together to meet the needs of our bobcats. This year will mark my 34th year in education. I have taught every grade from kindergarten through 8th grade! I served as a classroom teacher, literacy specialist and administrator in the Long Beach Unified School District before spending 13 years as an instructor in the elementary teaching credential programs at CSULB and CSUF. I came to SVUSD 10 years ago as a literacy coach, then assistant principal (at Foothill Ranch) and principal. I love teaching and look for any opportunity to share my love of learning. I often spend my summers teaching and training teachers abroad. I have worked with schools in Rwanda, Kenya, Morocco, Brazil and on the Navajo Reservation. I am an avid traveller who loves culture and geography. I have travelled to 25 countries and 28 states. The rest are on my never-ending list! My husband and I have lived in Mission Viejo for 20 years and have 2 children. My son, Evan, recently graduated from UPenn Law School and will be clerking for a federal judge in Pennsylvania. My daughter, Elyse, is a 4th generation educator who teaches in San Diego!
