Principal's Message

September, 2021

Dear Families and Students,

It is with pleasure I welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year. Whether you are a new or returning family, our staff is happy to have you as part of our school community. I am the principal at De Portola and I look forward to working with students, teachers, and our community for another fantastic school year.

This will obviously be a very different year for our school and almost all others throughout our country. County guidelines will have us all implementing protocols related to the ongoing pandemic and variant strains. Hopefully, it will be determined things are safe enough for us to return to normal in the near future.

Along with academics, our staff will continue to focus on kindness and safety amongst both our children and adults this year. Campus will be closed to only essential staff this year, so volunteer and visitor opportunities are closed until further notice. I am so thankful our community understands some of our safety procedures may include things that are more time-consuming or less convenient for our parents. I am equally thankful our staff and parents continuously set high expectations and remain stellar examples of kindness each day.

For anyone who has not already done so, please feel free to introduce yourself in writing or as you see me around the campus where parents are allowed. I am excited to continue this journey and be your partner in education. On behalf of our entire staff, it is an absolute pleasure and HUGE responsibility to take your most prized possession into our care each day. Thank you for your trust, your open mind, and most of all, your support.
