de Portola Community,
I am honored and privileged to serve as principal of de Portola Elementary. I have BA in Liberal Studies, Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Arts in Special Education, Master of Arts in School Administration, and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. I hold a Professional Clear Multiple Subject credential, a Level II Educational Specialist in Mild/Moderate Disabilities, and a Clear Administrative Services credential. I served four years in the classroom as a 5th Grade Teacher, 7th Grade Language Arts/Social Studies/Reading Teacher, and at the high school as a Special Day class and Resource Specialist. I was fortunate to intern in Kinder for a half-year, and love Kinder too! I have served as an administrator for eleven years, 9 1/2 years as a principal. I was principal of a 7th-12th grade special education school, a middle school principal, principal on assignment in Pupil Personnel Services, and an Elementary Principal. I also served as a member of the Statewide Special Education Task Force.
I do believe that schools are a family, which governs my approach to leadership. When we function as a family we will factor in the needs of all stakeholders and will strive to do what is best for all. We have an amazing community and school. I love getting to know all our students. I love technology and am big on finding out the latest resources or apps that will enhance learning or improve efficacy. My vision is to support powerful learning opportunities that prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow or even the jobs that don't even exist today!
