Principal's Message

Dear Families and Students,

It is with pleasure I welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year. Whether you are a new or returning family, our staff is happy to have you as part of our school community. I am the new principal at De Portola and I am looking forward to meeting our students, as well as working together with teachers and our community to make this a fantastic school year.

As a brief introduction, I am a lifelong resident of Orange County. I began working in Saddleback Valley Unified School District at the age of 18, performing a variety of capacities from custodial to recreation and child care. I have been a teacher and administrator in SVUSD since 1996. I am married to a 5thgrade teacher and the father of two teachers as well, one elementary and one high school. Education runs deep in the family! I hope you will find I am a personable principal with high expectations for student engagement, innovative teaching practices, and everyone, including adults on campus, treating each other with kindness.

Please feel free to introduce yourself as you see me around campus. I am excited to start this journey and be your partner in education. On behalf of our entire staff, it is an absolute pleasure and HUGE responsibility to take your most prized possession into our care each day. Thank you for your trust, your open mind, and most of all, your support.
