What is Blended Learning?
Blended learning is a form of education in which a student learns in part online and part in a “traditional” classroom with a teacher. Blended learning provides students with a large degree of control over their time, place, and pace of academic work while still provided weekly consistent face-to-face support from a teacher.
At the SVUSD Virtual Academy students complete the majority of their coursework online but attend school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from what we call "Blended Learning Days" (BLD). Academically, the BLDs allow teachers to quickly assess student understanding and progress, provide personalized academic support for each student, and engage students in individual and group activities to promote deeper understanding of the content. Socially, the BLDs provide students with interaction with other age group peers and helps build community and a sense of belonging within the SVUSD Virtual Academy.
