AMP provides a High School Prep Year for families seeking an additional 8th-grade year, allowing students to remain in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District while strengthening their academic, mental, and physical readiness for high school. Offered through SVUSD Virtual Academy, AMP delivers curriculum and instruction aligned to SVUSD’s scope and sequence. Students are taught by credentialed SVUSD teachers through a blended model that combines academics with daily in-person movement and performance training. 

AMP is open to all SVUSD 8th-grade students and is offered at no cost.

1. Academic Readiness: Strengthen the core academic skills students need to be successful in high school.
2. Physical Readiness: Build physical readiness through safe, supervised training focused on strength, speed, agility, mobility, and goal setting.
3. Mental Readiness: Develop the habits and foundational knowledge that support performance across academics and physical activity, including focus, motivation, nutrition, and well-being.

Students enroll in a focused set of courses designed to build high school readiness:

• Literacy: Reading comprehension and writing skills
• Mathematics: Reinforcing and advancing math proficiency
• Academic Content Wheel: A rotating sequence of courses such as Civics, Science, and Spanish
• Physical Fitness: Movement training that builds foundational strength, speed, agility, coordination, and mobility
• Human Performance Fundamentals: A yearlong course covering sport psychology, nutrition, and sports health

AMP uses a blended schedule that integrates on-campus instruction and training with independent work to provide structure, community, and flexibility. Students may attend in person for core academic skill-building, guided independent work, and daily movement training.
