Drop-off/Pick-up Safety Procedures
Our school parking lot is extremely busy during drop-off and pick-up times. All students should be in class at 8:00 a.m.
As a continued safety protocol and to ensure that we know who is on campus at all times, we’d like to remind our community that SVUSD elementary schools are closed campuses. Students may be dropped off in three designated areas: The front courtyard/parking lot, the grass area in the front of the school, or Antonio Parkway gate. (Unlike the previous year, you may choose which area works best for your family/students.)
On the first day of school, August 15, families/caregivers will be welcome to walk their children to their classroom lines. Beginning August 16, we will adhere to the following safety protocol:
- 15 minutes prior to the start of school, families may drop their children off at one of the designated drop-off/pick-up areas highlighted above. From there, students may proceed to their lines.
- When dropping-off/picking-up your students in the parking lot or on Vereda Laguna Street, please do not park and motion for your child to cross in front of on-coming traffic. We ask that students use the crosswalk and sidewalks for their safety.
- In the parking lot, cars should move through the lot in a single file line on the right. Please pull forward along the curb and watch for directions from a supervising adult. Once you are fully stopped, you may allow your child to exit/enter the car on the curbside only. The left lane is used for cars driving through the parking lot. Please take care when pulling out into the left flow-through lane, drive slowly, and watch for pedestrians.
- Kindergarten parents should park and walk to the front courtyard near the classrooms for drop-off/pick up. (Do not park at the red curb for drop-off/pick-up.) Kindergarten students must be escorted to and from class. Kindergarten teachers will only release children to an adult.
Thank you in advance for your assistance in addressing these important safety issues.
