Principal's Message

Mustang Families,

Please take some time today to review all the information on the newsletter site. Today is Monday, April 15th, 2024.

As you look through, you will note we have many events occurring each evening this week. One event I would like to highlight are Off the Wall’s production of Les Miserables, on April 19, 20, 25, and 26. The cast and crew have been putting in countless hours the last few months, and I am excited to see the culmination of all their hard work these next two weekends. The link to purchase tickets can be found here on the website.

Another event occurring this week will be during the school day, and that is the SVUSD Unified Games. We host this event each year as a way for the students at all of our district Unified Champion schools to be able to come together in camaraderie and fun. Thank you in advance to the many THHS students and staff that put this event together, especially Kara Johnson.

This webpage also has more highlights, student recognitions, and detailed information on these events and more. Please scroll through to see all the incredible things happening at THHS.

Ms. Alicia Foulk

Principal

THHS Instrumental Music Freshman Orientation

Tuesday, May 7, 2024 @ 7pm in the MPR

French Club is hosting a community service event for Tuesday, April 15 during lunch in Room 102.  We will be making French Flag rosette pins which will be used for the THHS production of Les Miserables.  Students who make at least 6 rosette pins will qualify for one hour of community service for CSF, NHS or for the SVUSD community service requirement.  We will be sewing small rosette pins (no sewing skills, each rosette takes about 8-10 minutes to make.) The rosette pins will be worn as costumes during Les Miserables.  We will also be donating some to the THHS theatre department to be sold at their concession stand.

Come to Room 102 on Tuesday to make a rosette pin, get community service hours, and support the THHS Off the Wall production of Les Miserables

Campbell is such a genuine pleasure to have in class. She not only enjoys reading for recreation but also engages in the discussion of literary works! She takes pride in the work she submits and often puts in extra to effort to organize her assignments so they are easy to score. Most importantly, Campbell is an incredible person who is eager to participate in class and help fellow students if needed. She will be missed dearly when she graduates (and undoubtedly goes on to leave a lasting footprint of positivity in our world).

Joshua is the most respectful, conscientious student. He is such a curious learner and intelligent student. His knowledge and diligence will take him so far in life. Ms. Miller is so lucky to have Joshua in class!

________________________________________________________________________________

All seniors must meet all SVUSD graduation requirements in order to participate in the Graduation Ceremony.  I encourage you to monitor your senior’s grades carefully during this important part of the school year.  Any failure of a required course will automatically prevent a student from participating in the Graduation Ceremony.

Seniors must follow all school policies up through and including graduation.  All financial and disciplinary obligations, as well as attendance at all mandatory graduation practices, must be fulfilled or participation in senior activities including the Graduation Ceremony, will be jeopardized.

Demerit Recovery and Graduation

In order to avoid jeopardizing participation in senior activities and the Graduation Ceremony, all senior students must have resolved all discipline consequences.  If there are any questions regarding behavior contracts or any outstanding discipline consequences, students should follow up with an Assistant Principal of Supervision. Each hour of discipline consequences equals 1 demerit.  Any senior student with demerits on their record must serve all assigned hours until their demerits equal ZERO (0) before they will be allowed to attend Prom, participate in any senior activities, or Graduation Ceremony.  A schedule of assigned hours of discipline consequences along with the intended days to serve must be arranged with the Supervision Office immediately.

Senior Pranks

Please note this word of caution about “senior pranks.”  Some of our students in the past without any disciplinary history have participated in a senior prank that resulted in lost opportunities and privileges.  There is no such thing as a safe senior prank. Consequences could include loss of senior activities and may jeopardize participation in the Graduation Ceremony.  If you become aware of such a plan, please inform the school and do not allow your senior to participate.  Students should never be on school grounds outside of school hours for any reason other than official school business or activities.

Please help your senior make good choices to ensure their participation in all senior activities and the Graduation Ceremony.

 Suspensions and Expulsions

Be advised that the Saddleback Valley Unified School District has a strict policy against the use or possession of drugs, alcohol, and weapons, and any other expellable offenses outlined by the California Education Code.  Please note that if a student commits ANY expellable offense and is recommended for expulsion, they will be excluded from Prom, ALL senior activities, extra-curricular activities, and the Graduation Ceremony during the expulsion.  Any student that is suspended and/or placed on a behavior contract for violations such as drug/alcohol possession or use, bullying or harassment, committing an obscene act, and possession of a weapon or dangerous object, within the last 45 days of school will not be able to attend prom, senior activities, and may be excluded from the Graduation Ceremony.

Behavior Expectations for the Graduation Ceremony

Students attempting to disrupt the integrity and grace of the Graduation Ceremony will be removed during the ceremony immediately.

Your support in discussing the importance of maintaining appropriate behavior through the end of the year as well as the severity of consequences for violating our behavior expectations is greatly appreciated and can ensure a positive experience during this exciting time for your family.

We want to ensure that all of our graduating seniors have the memorable experience of participating in their High School Graduation and your support is greatly appreciated.

I look forward to seeing you at graduation on May 30th.
