Trabuco Hills High School

State Testing (CAASPP)

Please note that the scheduled CAASPP dates have changed for the 2021-2022 school year. We will now be testing, March 22nd thru April 6th. All Trabuco Hills High School Juniors will be taking the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) and the California Science Test (CAST) in their English, Math and Science classes during this time. Seniors will take the California Science Test (CAST) in their Government/Economics on either April 5th or April 6th.

All other students will be following the block schedule below and attending all classes as they normally would.

It is important for all students to give their best effort on these tests for the following reasons:

  1. The CAASPP scores may be used for California Community Colleges (CCC) and California State University (CSU) to determine appropriate placement in college-level or remedial courses. The Early Assessment Program (EAP) will assist in providing information on readiness for college-level written communication and mathematics/quantitative reasoning prior to starting senior year. The results are used to determine appropriate coursework placement once you have been admitted. Students will have the opportunity to select "release" to provide this information to these institutions in the last question on each test. The release of CAASPP information will not affect a student's application for admission.
  2. Saddleback Valley Unified School district will now be posting CAASPP scores on student transcripts. Colleges you apply to will have the opportunity to use this information as an additional factor in granting admission.
  3. If your child is a candidate for the State Seal of Biliteracy, Assembly Bill (AB) 1142 updates
Section 51461(a)(2) to state that students must pass the California Assessment of English Performance and Progress (CAASPP) or any successor test, administered in grade eleven, at or above the "standard met" achievement level.
  4. This year the CAASPP test will be given inside the bell schedule, which means students will be completing the exams during class time. If a student opts out of the exam, they will be provided an alternate assignment to complete by the teacher during test time.
  5. THHS has the highest performance scores at SVUSD High Schools due to the incredible work of our students, teachers and families. We want to see this achievement continue and to see our performance remain the standard for other schools to strive for.
