The South Orange County Special Education Local Plan Area (SOC SELPA) CAC seeks to join together parents, educators, lawmakers, service providers and other community members who want to make a difference in the education of all students. Esperanza Education Center is home to the District's Adult Transition Program (Students 18-22 with moderate to severe disabilities) and Career Start. The Career Start Program empowers young people with disabilities to increase their level of independence by working collaboratively with community partners.

The Saddleback Valley Unified School District Early Childhood Center offers special education and related services for 3-5 year old students with special needs to meet their individualized needs.

The South Orange County SELPA actively searches for children ages 3-21 who may be in need of special education services. Any parent, family member, private school representative, or community member that may know of a child who may be in need of special education services should contact the child's school of residence or the South Orange County SELPA office at 949-580-3411. If the child is under the age of 3 years, please contact the Regional Center of Orange County at 714-796-5100.

This shall serve as notice that Special Education hard-copy records are generally only maintained for a three year to four year period. Outdated records are offered to parents prior to destruction. For those who have graduated/received certification of completion or discontinued, records are destroyed three years after date of scheduled graduation/completion. If students transfer to another district, Saddleback Valley Unified School District forwards Special Education records to the new school and does not maintain copies. Electronic data-base records may be kept beyond this time period. At the end of 2023/2024 school year, all Special Education records with graduation/completion date prior to 2020 will be destroyed.
