Serrano Intermediate School - Facility Needs Assessment and Plan
Serrano Intermediate School is located in the city of Lake Forest, educating students in 7th and 8th grade. The school opened its doors in 1975. The Serrano Intermediate School learning community is committed to the academic success of every student. They celebrate its diverse student population as well as its dedicated and caring staff who utilize an array of teaching strategies that help promote student success. Serrano has a wide variety of programs to ensure all student needs are met. They have a strong Career Technical Education program that includes courses such as STEAM, computer programming and application, and video broadcasting that produces the Good Morning Serrano news show. In addition, our school-wide AVID program creates a culture of college and career readiness. All student needs are met through a variety of differentiated models in the classrooms, including honors level and co-teach classes. Student use of technology is integrated into all core classes with the focus on collaboration and higher level critical thinking skills. Serrano is a place where all kids can soar!
The Master Planners met with Serrano's administration, teachers, parents and students to identify the school's facilities needs. An evaluation of the site was also performed by the architects and engineers. Listed below are the notes and meeting dates that have been held at Serrano so far.
