Instructional Design and Technology / Assessment

Instructional Design and Technology/Assessment (IDT/A) assists in the planning, development, and coordination of educational technology and state assessments.

Instructional Design & Technology is focused on designing innovative, effective, and engaging educational programs for K-12 Education. We focus on the systematic design of educational environments. Although we prepare educators to effectively use all aspects of technology, Instructional Design & Technology is not just about computers; rather, the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation and management of high-quality instruction.  With continued advances in technology and acceleration rate of change, education and on-going professional development are vital to the success of all within SVUSD.

Assessment is focused on the implementation of all statewide academic assessments, including:

  • Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments for ELA and Mathematics
  • California Science Test (CAST)
  • California Alternate Assessment (CAA)
  • Summative English Language Proficiency for California (ELPAC)
  • Summative Alternative ELPAC

IDT/A works to provide the very best support and professional learning for teachers as they implement student-centered, research-based, technology-rich instruction. The team develops and delivers professional learning workshops as well as one-on-one coaching with teachers and administrators. Areas of emphasis include Universal Design for Learning, innovative instructional strategies, formative assessment tools, professional learning networks, digital culture, and tools for student creativity, and critical thinking. Artificial Intelligence (AI) will become a key component within SVUSD as we expand our knowledge and skills in this evolving field.
