Transitional Kindergarten, or TK, is the first year of a two-year Kindergarten program offered to children who are the age of 4 by September 1 at no cost.

Transitional Kindergarten at SVUSD is:

• Part of the public school system so there is no charge and voluntary
• Taught by Credentialed Teachers specializing in Early Education
• Offered at regional sites with transportation provided by parents

Best Buddies is a fully inclusive classroom that partners with the La Tierra Early Education Center. The Best Buddies program is specific to students ages 3 to 5 years of age by 8/21/23.

Best Buddies Location and Hours

• Location: La Tierra Early Education Center Campus
• Hours: 4 hours per day, 9 AM to 1 PM, Supports Kindergarten Readiness
• Monday and Wednesday classes are for students 3.5 to 5 years old. Students must be born between August 21, 2018 through February 21, 2020 to be eligible.
• Tuesday and Thursday classes are for students 3 to 4.5 years old. Students must be born between February 21, 2019 through August 21, 2020 to be eligible.

Learning Link at SVUSD provides an accessible and creative learning environment to assist in the development and academic preparation of young children entering preschool or kindergarten. This program is designed as an interactive center for parents and their children ages 3 to 5.

• Monday, Wednesday, Friday, for children 3½ – 5 Years by start of school
• Tuesday, Thursday Preschool Program, for children 3 – 4½ Years by start of school (SVUSD calendar)
• Locations: La Tierra, Portola Hills*, and Rancho Cañada*
