About Glen Yermo

 

Glen Yermo Elementary School is located in the City of Mission Viejo, educating students from transitional-kindergarten through 6th grade. The school opened its doors in 1973. Their mission statement is “Inspiring every student to think, to learn, to achieve, and to care.”

 

Threaded and embedded throughout the instructional day and across content areas, Glen Yermo provides the students with the following at their development level:

• Student Success Skills encompass communication skills (listening, speaking, writing), self-advocacy skills and study skills
• Organizational Skills include mental and physical organization, organizational tools, time management, goal setting, and note taking strategies
• Instruction places an emphasis on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading in all content areas
• Partnerships form among students, classrooms, grade levels, parents, and the community

 

Glen Yermo provides enrichment opportunities that include art, music, hands-on science and after school clubs which include art, robotics and chess. Some of the other wonderful things about Glen Yermo include Extended Learning Time, technology in the hands of every student, specialized field trips, intervention programs for English Language Arts and Mathematics, and Parent and Family Education and Fun Nights. They are an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) certified school.
