Facilities Focus Group 2021

SVUSD adopted a Facilities Master Plan (FMP) in August of 2019.  The FMP is a 10 year plan detailing the facility needs at each school site and is accessible on the SVUSD website's FMP page.  All needs are categorized into 3 priority areas, with a total cost of $563 million.  Priority 1 is reflective of short term needs, priority 2 is reflective of 3-5 year needs and priority 3 is reflective of 6-10 year needs.  Additionally, prioritization has been placed on needs that support unique student learning environments, site safety and security, and technology infrastructure.  Presentations detailing the FMP process and needs have been given several times at each school site, inclusive of stakeholder participation and feedback.

Within the last year, progress has been made on some of the facility needs identified in the FMP, especially in the wake of increased health and safety needs and implementation of protocols at all SVUSD school sites due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The next steps in the FMP process include establishing a Facilities Focus Group (FFG) to review elementary schools with projected enrollment under 400 students.  The purpose of the FFG is to provide solutions for operational and instructional issues, which will then be presented to the SVUSD Board of Education for consideration.  The FFG includes a parent/guardian representative of each school site with a 2029 projected enrollment of less than 400 students.
