Greetings Linda Vista Families,
Kindergarten through sixth grade attend school at the same time. Students begin school at 8:20am everyday with dismissal on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 2:35pm and Wednesday at 1:06pm.
Student safety is a priority at Linda Vista. Please help us keep students safe at all times. Visitors and volunteers must sign in and out in the school office. If you notice an adult on campus without a sticker during school hours, please notify the office. As a reminder, students in grades first through sixth who are dropped off and picked up by car, should use the Pepita Gate. The upper parking lot is for Kindergarten student drop off/pick up and staff parking only. Please do not double park or block the fire and bus lanes.
Breakfast is served before school. All families are encouraged to fill out the lunch program form included in the first day packet of information. Breakfast service will begin on the second day of school. Breakfast is available for students before school starts and supervision begins at 7:50am daily. The cost of breakfast is $1.75 and lunch is $2.75. Students not eating breakfast at school are encouraged to arrive at 8:05am to participate in the Mind Walk on the lower blacktop area.
Families needing childcare before 7:50am are encouraged to contact The Learning Connection (TLC). Before school care in TLC begins at 7:00am. TLC and Kids Factory are available for after school care and supervision. Please contact TLC or Kids Factory at 949-768-0981 for space availability and cost information.
The morning flag salute and announcements will continue this year on Mondays. Please join us on the lower blacktop at 8:20am. Celebration announcements are available in the front office for $5.00. All proceeds go toward sending our sixth graders to Camp Pali and the celebration announcements are exciting for our scholars.
Linda Vista is proud to have many opportunities for parent involvement. We have an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA), English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), and a School Site Council (SSC). We'd love to have you join us in these groups that help support our scholars. For more information about how you can participate, please come speak with me.
Transportation is available for students living in the Via Lomas and Villa Solana neighborhoods on a first come, first served basis. Please apply online on the district website (www.svusd.org) and click on the transportation link. For those who have already applied, the passes and a schedule for pick-up and drop-off will be mailed to you. Students must present the pass in order to board the bus.
Students in fifth and sixth grade interested in playing in the Advanced Strings group will meet before school on Fridays at 7:30am. Music classes for fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students are every Friday.
Sunday night School Messenger phone calls and emails will continue this year to keep you informed about upcoming events. If your phone number or email address has changed, please let the office know.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us in the school office at 830-0970. The school office is open from 8:00am-3:30pm daily to assist you.
This will be another great year!
