The staff, students and parents at Foothill Ranch Elementary School work together to create a positive school environment that continues to ignite learning. The teaching staff works closely together to monitor student growth and achievement in their grade level Data Teams by assessing student learning and planning the use of research-based instructional strategies to meet the needs of their students. Our strength is teamwork and communication among our staff, students, and parents.
We continually reinforce our Positive Behavior Intervention Support system with our “PAWS” program. We begin each year with school-wide assemblies for PAWS expectations as well as anti-bullying strategies and information, as age appropriate. We hold playground rotations to familiarize students with expected PAWS behaviors on the playground and around campus. All staff and students utilize the behavior matrices to know and understand the rules. We speak the same language with the students to keep consistent expectations throughout the campus and provide many opportunities for positive reinforcement.
Foothill Ranch’s parent community is key to the success of our students. Members of our PTA and School Site Council (SSC) volunteer hundreds of hours on campus as well as provide our students with assemblies, fine arts programs, and technology. Through the efforts of staff, PTA and district resources we have purchased Chromebook and iPad carts for classroom checkout. We have 1-to-1 Chromebooks in grades 4th & 5th, a Chromebook cart for both Grades 6th and 3rd and 4-to-1 iPads in grades TK, K and 1. Additionally, every classroom is equipped with a smart board, document camera, projector, iPad and Chromebook so that teachers and students may access a multitude of media resources to enhance instruction. Foothill Ranch teachers have participated in many professional development opportunities where the focus was on technology integration and the use of Chromebooks as well Google resources such as Google Docs and Google Slides programs. We continue to work with our PTA and school district to acquire additional technology to engage students in learning and teach valuable college and career technology skills throughout the curriculum.
Students participate in STEAM lessons in our large school garden and classrooms where they use Claims, Evidence and Reasoning to create STEAM projects focused on NGSS engineering and science standards. Our TK-2 students engage in the Ramps and Pathways engineering program.
Come and volunteer in your child’s classroom, in the library, or in one of our special programs. We welcome you to our school and the team that makes Foothill Ranch a great place to learn!
