YOUR PSTO MEMBERSHIP DOLLARS
Today's PSTO is not your mother's or father's PSTO. In fact, in the face of the most severe budget crisis in the history of education in California, the ET PSTO has been the great equalizer, providing the school with the funding necessary to keep the crisis out of the classroom.
Parent, Student, Teacher Organization membership dollars contribute directly to school improvement, campus safety, and instructional programs. Last year, and so far this year, PSTO has contributed $70,000 in instructional materials and classroom supplies. The majority of the PSTO budget is financed by the Lake Forest Annual 4th of July 5K, all other funding is memberships ($15) and e-scrip. E-scrip allows you to support ET everytime you shop at Ralph's or Albertson's or Target by signing up your card.
In addition to basic materials and supplies (i.e. paper, dry erase markers, toner, pencils, scantrons, etc...) we have been able purchase face shields and goggles necessary for experimentation and auto repair and wood working, sensors for the physics classroom, a variety of state of the art software programs such as Solid Works for our CAD program, video equipment and software programs for our broadcast journalism program, and much, much more.
Much of the peripherals for our new Advanced Technologies in Manufacturing Academy are courtesy of your membership dollars, as are our academic intervention and specialty programs. Extra-curricular programs are supported by your membership dollars as well, including Every 15 Minutes, Homecoming, and GRAD Nite. Numerous campus upgrades have also been supported by your membership dollars. Most recently, the new benches in front of the gym that provide seats for our students who often do their HW while waiting for mom or dad to pick them up after practice are courtesy of your membership dollars. So is much of the additional outdoor lighting.
I hope you are in a position to join our organization. I fully recognize that you already contribute a lot of money in a variety of ways, including classroom fees for consumables, participation fees for extra-curricular activities such as athletics and band and pep squad, test fees, etc...(not to mention taxes!) but symbolically it means a lot to a school when every parent partners up with us in a show of unity and mutual support.
Respectfully,
Allan Mucerino
