7th Grade Earth and Life History
Believe it or not, CA standards include quite a bit of Earth Science in seventh grade!

4. Evidence from rocks allows us to understand the evolution of life on Earth. As a basis for understanding this concept:

Digital Library for Earth System Education
8.24.06 This NSTA funded site provides resources for educators in all areas of earth systems science. In addition, it gives up to date "earth news" and integrates other tools such as Google Earth.

Evolution
From the website "Understanding Evolution" these pages provide evidence for evolution in biogeography. Topics covered: relative dating, geography, plate tectonics.

This site provides background information for tackling the geological end of this topic.

NASA:: The Globe Project
The Globe Project is an international site where students from around the world share what they learn about the world around them. Focusing on science and math, here students can explore such concepts as atmosphere and climate, water consumption, soil analysis, and biology, all from a global perspective. Investigation results and reports can be directly input in the site for other users to view. A detail filled resource containing unique, online investigations with real-world applications. There are numerous lesson plans offered here as well.

This Dynamic Earth: The Story of Plate Tectonics
Everything you want to know about plate tectonics can be found at this site, provided by the U.S. Geological Survey. Visit "Historical perspectives" in the Contents section to learn about the theory of continental drift. Under "Plate tectonics and people" you can learn about earthquakes, volcanoes, and tsunamis.
