Welcome To CAC

The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) provides input and support to the SOC SELPA for both Laguna Beach and Saddleback Unified School Districts. The CAC is composed of volunteer parents, district administrators, teachers and a student representative. The CAC meets on the second Wednesday of the month during the school year at alternating district offices. All parents are welcome to attend the CAC meetings.

South Orange County (SOC) Special Education Local Plan Area

For purposes of the distribution of Special Education funds and the sharing of resources and services, the State of California has grouped neighboring school districts into Special Education Local Plan Areas. Every three years each SELPA develops a Special Education Local Plan showing how the districts will implement Sate and Federal Laws relating to Special Education. This plan is available here to read on the Local Area Plan page. The South Orange County Special Education Local Plan Area includes the Saddleback Valley Unified School District and the Laguna Beach Unified School District. These school districts are joined together to provide special education programs and services to students with special needs. A copy of the local plan is available for public review at the district office of each school district and at the SELPA office (949-580-3411) or you may view both the Local Plan and Bylaws in PDF format below. The CAC determines its own leadership and agenda. Professional staff provide information and support. Sub-committees may include: Parent Education Programs, Membership, Publicity and Local Plan Review. Guest speakers may also be invited to present information of interest to parents at CAC meetings. The CAC is a local resource where parents can learn about the system that manages their children's special services and can become collaborating partners in the process. Parent involvement is very important and a key element in providing effective programs for children.
