WELCOME TO THE HOME OF THE DREAM TEAM!
DEAR FRIENDS: WELCOME to the 2007 to 2008 THIRD GRADERS!
I want to thank my amazing class for the magical retirement party that was held to honor me! I will never forget how loved and appreciated I felt, and how much I enjoyed seeing Dream Team members present and past who are finding joy and success in their school experiences. DREAM TEAM, shoot high, for if you miss the moon, you will land among the stars! I will always love you!
This is the home of ROOM 27, THE DREAM TEAM! We are looking forward to a wonderful 2007 to 2008 year. THIRD GRADE is a very exciting grade because we will learn things that you will use for the rest of your life, like cursive, multiplication and division. We'll learn to appreciate ourselves and others and work together to make everyone shine, just like a team!
We will be doing NIGHTLY HOMEWORK. We copy down the assignment EACH NIGHT. The homework is due by LUNCH TIME the following day. This important skill will be useful when we move into the upper grades!
YOUR "OOPS! I FORGOT MY HOMEWORK" passes are more useful when they are kept at SCHOOL, so you will have them when you need them.
We will be doing many incentive programs to encourage NIGHTLY READING. START CHOOSING Accelerated Reader books! In Fall, 2007, they will be part of our report card grades. For books read INDEPENDENTLY on your reading level, at 80% or higher: 3 points for an A, 2 points for a B, and 1 point for a C. TRY TO MEET YOUR GOAL EARLY IN THE MONTH! There will be SECRET SURPRISES for those who meet their reading goals for A.R. each month.
We will RISE AND SHINE earlier this year, as school starts at 8:30.
YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO UNTIL YOU TRY!

If you are looking for the level of a book to read for Accelerated Reader, just go onto the FRE school website, then to the Library/Media Center, click on the link, and then go to AR Quiz List, and click on the link. You can type in the name of the author or the book to find out if your book is in our A.R. computer system! The AR website can be found at: http://www.quizlist.net/search.aspx?id=2090
Another wonderful website can be found at: http:// www.eduplace.com/kids/mhm .
It is sponsored by the math book publisher, and has fun and interesting ways to review each math concept by chapters. Eduplace also has a language arts section as well.
