Welcome to El Toro High School, home of the Chargers, and one of the top high schools in Southern California. Established in the city of Lake Forest, California in 1973, ETHS is a traditional, comprehensive high school with experienced and caring teachers and staff. It is the goal of our school to develop students who will become: positive decision-makers, effective communicators, life-long learners, global citizens, makers of healthy life-style choices, and technologically knowledgeable.

School highlights include:
• California Distinguished School 1988, 1994, & 2001. National Blue Ribbon Nominee 1994 & 2001.
• California “Top 100” High Schools Selection.
• 15 National Merit Finalists; 15 Semi-Finalists in the past 5 years.
• 1995 C.I.F. Football Champions, 1999 C.I.F. Water Polo Finalists, 2000 & 2001 C.I.F. Water Polo Semi-Finalists, 2001 Boys’ Cross Country Orange County Champions, 2000 Girls’ Basketball C.I.F. Semi-Finalist, 2000 C.I.F. Girls’ Water Polo Semi-Finalist, 2001 Girls’ Volleyball C. I. F. Finalist, Boys' Basketball CIF Finalist, 2005.
• A tradition of excellence in all curricular and extracurricular areas.
• Special programs in Model United Nations, Mock Trial, Scholastic Competition, Video Production, Web Page Design, and Virtual Economics.
• New programs in 2003-04 included: the Read 180 Program and the Newcomers Program.
• Over 45 clubs and organizations with opportunities for all students.
• Two-thirds of the student body involved in athletics, visual and performing arts and/or campus activities.
• Over 400 computers for student use including 4 sets of classroom sets of laptops.
• Highly recognized programs in fine and performing arts, including the state AAA Marching Band/Color Guard state champions.
• Recent graduates admitted to Harvard, Notre Dame, Stanford, Northwestern, Princeton, MIT, and the Air Force Academy.
• International Baccalaureate Program established in 2004.
• API score of 795 tied for highest in the district in 2004.

We are very proud of the history, tradition, and quality of our educational and extracurricular programs, and even more proud of our diverse and exceptional student body.
